Our Story – From Classroom Idea to Global Aid

In 2006, sixteen-year-old Ruth Amos accepted her design teacher’s challenge to create a stair aid for people with limited mobility. Her prototype won Young Engineer for Britain the same year and later evolved into the patented StairSteady handrail and locking handle we know today. The design went on to claim Product of the Year 2013 from the British Healthcare Trade Association, proving that simple ideas can make a life-changing difference.

Today, StairSteady systems are manufactured under ISO 9001 quality management in Victoria and supported by a nationwide network of accredited installers and health-care partners.
